Islam in Christ’s Eyes

The Lord’s church in Katy is happy to welcome Wissam Al-Aethawi this fall! We are looking forward to hearing about his journey from Islam to Christianity, and we’re excited to learn what we as Christians can do for our Muslim neighbors. Please join us for this series of lessons!

Purpose: To equip Christians to show their Muslim neighbors the love of Christ and ‎the truth of the ‎gospel, to educate America about Islam, and to promote the Arab ‎Christian Ministry.‎

I am Wissam Al-Aethawi, a convert from Islam, a native of Baghdad, Iraq, and a graduate of Sunset ‎International Bible Institute. My ministry (The Arab Christian ‎‎Ministry) is both local and ‎global.

Locally, I share Christ with Muslims in Dearborn, MI, and I tell Christians about ‎Islam on a global level.‎ I have four published books: Islam in Christ’s Eyes, I am an ‎Arab and I am a Christian, The Road to Your Happiness and A Railroad in Dearborn. ‎

The ACM is in the process of obtaining its 501C3 status and purchasing a building in ‎Dearborn, where I dream of establishing the first Arabic-speaking congregation of the ‎Lord’s church in the U.S.

Class 1: Abraham, Muhammad, and the Golden Butterfly, 7 p.m.
Islam is the inevitable result of how some Bible characters showed instances of a lack ‎of faith in ‎God’s plan. Learn about seven of those acts—and one man who happened ‎to be in the right place at ‎the right time.

Class 2: Evolution of Islam, 8 p.m.
In order to understand the inconsistency in the Quran, it is imperative to study the life ‎of Muhammad ‎and the early history of Islam.

Class 1: Islam Myth Buster, 9:30 a.m.
There have been two types people who talk about Islam: Muslims, and non-Muslims. The ‎latter couldn’t ‎give you accurate information, while the former wouldn’t tell you the whole ‎truth about Islam. But what ‎does Islam say about itself?‎

Class 2: Is Isa Jesus?, 10:30 a.m.
The Quran talks about a man by the name Isa, whom Muslims identify as Jesus. When ‎asked, ‎Muslims say that they believe in Him. Who is Isa? Is he the same as Jesus? If ‎Muslims believe in ‎him, are they expecting the same promise that comes out of faith in ‎Him as John 3:16 says?‎

Class 3: Is Allah God?, 11:30 a.m.
The answer is so tricky that we need a whole class for it.

Class: The Quran, or the Bible? (Apologetics), 9 a.m.
Among the dozens of scriptures followed by billions of people worldwide today, most ‎people believe ‎in one of these two: the Quran, and the Bible. Which scripture among ‎these two to trust depends on the ‎very definition of the word “scripture.”

Sermon: I am an Arab, and I am a Christian, 10 a.m.
In 2011, I sought asylum in the U.S. because of my religious conversion from Islam. In ‎‎2014, I went ‎back to the same community I escaped from for the same reason– the ‎gospel of Christ. What ‎happened in between, and how did it all start?

Evening sermon: For We Do Not Wrestle (Evangelism), 6 p.m.
Now that we have learned about Islam, what should the Christian response be?
